The first industry talk to take place at Harris South Norwood was delivered by Laura Devereux from Savills Estate agents. With 23 students from six Harris academies, it was a pleasure to host the first of hopefully a number of industry talks.
The students listened intently to Laura who explained that Savills was not just about pretty houses but about working in a wide range of properties including hotels, farms and major complexes.
Savills now offer the opportunity of degree apprenticeships for students who have chosen not to commit to a full time university course.
There are currently two different occupations that can be chosen from, and Laura explained the difference between the training to become a Chartered Surveyor and a Chartered Town Planner.
Following the presentation the students asked a wide range of questions and a number of the students expressed an interest in applying for one of the opportunities when they are advertised in March 2020. The feedback from the students was exceptionally positive and they requested that more talks are organised.
